Stuff We Believe In
From The Game of Life by Mark Harris.
"When we're in a state of intense play, our cares and worries tend to vanish. . . we feel pleasurably alive, lighthearted. But play can also take us to new heights of conscious awareness."
"In the zone of deep, transcendent play there is calm but focused readiness. Emotions are primed and ready for release."
"Awareness of the task at hand requires a sort of meditative brilliance. Mindfulness zeroes in like a laser beam. Everything feels in harmony. In the flow, we feel satisfied."
From an interview of Peter Weiss (author of the play The New Trial) and his wife Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss by Anita Brundahl:
GPW: ...I have absolutely nothing against the institutional theater, with its valuable professional expertise and technical skills all concentrated under one roof. We need to defend that. But what we also need is a new type of repertory theater. The current habit of immediately tearing apart groups of people just as soon as they have in some way achieved a common purpose--that's what we must reject.
PW: The conception of an Artists' Theater is absolutely right. That doesn't mean every theater has to be structured like that. But I believe there are many people interested in working in this new way.
AB: Where are the obstacles?
GPW: It is above all a question of organization.
PW, GPW, AB: And it needs continuous work.
