Romulus Cast
Andy Bond (Romulus)
Andy is a graduate of the University of Texas and a veteran of the Shakespeare
at Winedale program. While at Winedale he learned about the tremendous
emotional impact of live performance, and he performs to this day because
"there is something truly magical about the imaginative journey that
audiences and players take together." Active in the local theater
community since 1994, Andy has performed with The Boxtree Players (The
Taming of the Shrew), Rude Mechanicals (Prometheus Unbound, Ubu Roi),
the Austin Free Shakespeare Society (Henry IV: Part I, The Comedy of Errors)
and helped found The Bedlam Faction. He appeared as Volpone in . . . you
guessed it . . . Volpone!
Robert Deike (Apollonius; Ottaker)
Robert Deike, for some reason, has an insane agenda. He wants people to
enjoy live theatre, rather than 'experience' it. Having stumbled upon
performance by unwittingly signing up for the Shakespeare at Winedale
program fifteen years ago, Robert has since been a member of the UT Theatre
Collective, The Wheetzah Players, The Barefoot Players, The Public Domain,
Different Stages, The Austin Free Shakespeare Society, and now a founding
member of The Bedlam Faction. He played the role of Mosca in Volpone and
Mr. Dashwell in The London Cuckolds.
Hildreth England (Pyramus)
Hildreth managed to avoid the brutal Shakespeare camp named after a grapey
vintage and the other half of Chip. BUT she did get her triple threat
training on early...fa reelz, yo... in the mean, hard, urchin-infested
streets of Corpus Christi, Washington, DC, and Paris, France. After graduating
from Georgetown University, she moved to Austin to shirk the urchins and
get into film. She's a member of rm 120 theatre, Insane Root Theatre Company,
and has done enough low-budget films to be an indie duchess. Love and
poodle doop to mom and dad.
Greg Gondek (Mares; Theodoric)
Greg Gondek is happy to be working with the Bedlam Faction for the first
time. He has performed in numerous productions for Public Domain, Hyde
Park Theatre, Austin Scriptworks, Subterranean Theatre Company, and the
dirigo group (for whom he recently played the title role in The Gypsy
Chain).
Shannon Grounds (Zena)
Shannon Grounds earned her degree in theatre from the University of Texas,
and is currently a company member of the Hyde Park and Public Domain Theatre
Companies. She has also worked with the Rude Mechanicals, the State Theater
Company, Austin Scriptworks, Alchemy Works and Different Stages. Recent
credits include Cordelia in the Public Domain's King Lear, Susie in Wit
at the State Theater, and Arabella in Bedlam Faction's London Cuckolds.
Travis Holmes (Titus)
Travis holds an ever-so-useful theater degree from UT, and has written,
acted, and directed with Loaded Gun Theory. He is pleased as punch to
be performing with the Bedlam Faction for the first time; in the near
future, he aspires to leave corporate America to join the front lines
of public education.
Jaime Martin (Achilles)
Jaime took a liking to theatre after a stint at Shakespeare at Winedale,
where she played Celia in As You Like It and her favorite role ever, Peter
in Romeo and Juliet. She last appeared as Jane in The London Cuckolds.
Currently, she enjoys playing with the Bedlam Faction, wrestling with
the other costume committee members, and keeping a tight rein on Mike
Nelson.
Elizabeth Mason (Tullius)
Elizabeth attended the National Theater Institute in 1994, and has performed
in Night Mother and The Rimers of Eldrich at Wheaton College, and in I
Can't Imagine Tomorrow at Oberlin. She also co-wrote, co-directed, and
performed in the collaborative piece Southern Voices: All in One Breath
during her stint at Oberlin. She is working with the Bedlam Faction for
the first time.
Robert Matney (Rupf)
Rob is a UT graduate steadfastly using his Philosophy degree as an employee
at Apple Computer. He has been a student in the Shakespeare at Winedale
program, co-founded The Austin Free Shakespeare Society and the Permanent
Thisbe Theater Company, and worked with The Public Domain, The Colonial
Shakespeare Company, and the Rude Mechanicals. He is a founding member
of the Bedlam Faction, and appeared as Sir Politic Would-Be in Volpone
and Ramble in The London Cuckolds.
Michael Nelson (Aemilian)
Michael Nelson knows where "the line" is, but chooses to step
over it on a regular basis; he is often grounded as a result. As an Austinite,
he has acted in productions with Loaded Gun Theory, Shakespeare at Winedale,
and he is the voice of Bo Hawke in Mark Lovell's animated film Vicious
Cyclone. He is a founding member of the Bedlam Faction and was seen in
Volpone as Peregrine and Bonario, and in The London Cuckolds as the ultra-smooth
Frank Townly.
Shanna E. Smith (Julia)
Shanna is the dazed and confused owner of a newly minted Ph.D. in Human
Development and Family Science from the University of Texas, where she
also works as a statistical consultant. She has performed in 15 different
Shakespeare productions in and around Austin including those by Shakespeare
at Winedale, The Boxtree Players, The Colonial Shakespeare Company, and
The Austin Free Shakespeare Society. She helped found the Bedlam Faction,
and played the role of Celia in Volpone and Eugenia in The London Cuckolds.
Musicians
Johnbo (Music Director; Cook)
Johnbo has wrangled live music for several plays in Austin since 1999,
including The Austin Free Shakespeare Society's productions of Comedy
of Errors, Henry IV: Part I, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and the
Bedlam Faction's Volpone and The London Cuckolds. He's now getting into
soundtrack writing, record production, and sexy lingerie.
Catherine Collett (Percussion)
Cat is going to Africa this fall to study something mysteriously relating
to anthropology. No, it doesn't involve human sacrifice. Do not ask questions
or you will suffer the consequences.
Steph Tomlinson (Clarinet)
Steph has played clarinet for the Austin Free Shakespeare Society's Comedy
of Errors and Two Gentlemen of Verona. She's also worked with the Bedlam
Faction for their production of Volpone. She hopes that someday she will
a Certified Mathematician as well as One Fine Chef.
Joe Trent (Percussion)
Joe is a code warrior for UT's Computer Science department, and in his
spare time enjoys playing percussion and making his car do zero to sixty
in a startlingly small amount of time. He played drums for Austin Free
Shakespeare Society's Comedy of Errors and Two Gentlemen of Verona and
for Bedlam Faction's Volpone.
